The Technology
Limitless number of users
and better video quality are the main characteristics
of StreamerOne. These features are possible thanks
to the use of the Peer to Peer technology (P2P) applied
to the stream.
From the practical point of view, the video source
begins to supply the stream to a limited number of
users. These first users relay the stream to the others
through a mechanism of cascade sharing.
Sophisticated algorithms manage logon and logoff of
every user in the system. All the data exchanges between
the source and the peers occur through public and
private keys. The quality (bitrate) of the original
stream can be any: the only limitation is the connection
speed of users that must be enough to receive and
retransmit the stream.
In order to visualize the video, the user has to install
a P2P player interfacing with Windows flows Video
(WMV) or Real Player (RM). The use of the player is
free.
When the player opens, the user has to wait for a
while until the local system collects stream from
the other peers. In about 1 minute the player begins
to receive data fluidly so that the video can be seen
without interruptions.
